Watch Shailene Woodley Explain Why She’s No Longer in ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2′

Shalene_WoodleyJust about a month ago, word got out that Shailene Woodley would not appear in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 as Mary Jane Watson, despite having shot scenes for the film. Apparently the movie was in need of some trimming so the filmmakers made the choice to cut out MJ’s brief appearance.

Considering The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will feature the characters from the first film and also introduce us to Jamie Foxx’s Electro, Paul Giamatti’s the Rhino, Dane DeHaan’s Harry Osborn and Chris Cooper’s Norman Osborn and have a little something involving the Ravencroft Institute, a prison for supervillains, it does make sense that something had to go.

RESIDENT EVIL: RETRIBUTION Trailer Debut and Milla Jovovich Q&A Recap: Footage Description and Violent, Gory and Action-Packed Details from Jovovich

You might have noticed that just a few hours ago, the Resident Evil: Retribution trailer made its big debut, but for some lucky fans in New York City, the experience entailed much more than an Internet viewing. ScreenCrush.com’s Jordan Hoffman moderated an event that featured a showing of the new trailer on the big screen as well as a clip from the film and a Q&A session with none other than Alice herself, Milla Jovovich.

When you’ve got a franchise rocking five installments, it’s undoubtedly a monumental success. While directors Paul W.S. AndersonAlexander Witt and Russell Mulcahy have all effectively maintained the world created by Anderson in the first film back in 2002, inspired by the Capcom video games, now it’s time to push the envelope more so than ever. Alice is turning her battle against the Umbrella Corporation into an international effort, traveling from Tokyo to New York to Washington D.C. and Moscow during which she’ll uncover information that sheds new light on her expansive endeavor.  Hit the jump to read all about the exclusive footage and Jovovich’s experience working on the film.

Giancarlo Esposito Talks Breaking Bad And Once Upon A Time

All caught up on Breaking Bad? No? First off, how dare you? But, more importantly, watch out because this piece is packed with spoilers!

Earlier this evening Breaking Bad baddie, Giancarlo Esposito, showed off how unlike Gus Fring he really is, enjoying a nice night out with his daughter at the premiere of The Adventures of Tintin. Naturally, after Gus’ shocking demise, the obligatory question had to be asked – is that really the end of Gus? While Esposito artfully dodged the question, he does note that “no one dies on Breaking Bad” and that Gus will “definitely be back” perhaps “to put a final stamp on the series’ ending.”

Regardless of how big Gus’ return will be, it looks like Esposito will have another show keeping him quite busy, ABC’s Once Upon a Time. So far, we’ve seen Esposito’s Mirror pop up a few times, but the character most certainly has room to grow, especially with the Mirror’s intriguing newspaper reporter real life counterpart, and it seems as though the show will take advantage of that opportunity. Esposito explained that he’s actually shooting material for the show tomorrow and that we should all keep an eye out for episode 111, teasing his character might be getting closer to the Queen.

Hear it all yourself straight from Esposito in the video interview below and watch out for our full coverage of the red carpet for The Adventures of Tintin closer to the film’s December 21st release.

Steven Spielberg Revisits The T-Rex Roar

My inner fan girl takes over! Earlier this evening, Steven Spielberg took to the red carpet for his upcoming release, The Adventures of Tintin. Keep an eye out for the Tintin coverage closer to the film’s December 21st release, but for now, we’ve got something for all you Jurassic Park diehards out there.

As Jurassic Park is my favorite film of all time – yes, you can certainly quote me on that – it should come as no surprise that I legitimately wake up to the roar of Spielberg’s T-rex every morning. After schvitzing quite a bit as Spielberg made his way closer and closer to my spot on the pressline, the time came and I went with my gut – I whipped out my iPhone and showed Spielberg my alarm clock.

What better segue to ask about Jurassic Park 4? Sure, it’s been beaten to death at this point, but my T-rex wakeup call did lead to an enthusiastic, albeit new news-less, discussion. Check it out for yourself below.

Interview: Writer-Directors Jon Hurwitz And Hayden Schlossberg Talk American Reunion

Not only do Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg have the pleasure of seeing Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle turn into a very successful three-film franchise, but now they get to have a hand in a different series of films, something that had a great impact on them when they were first kicking off their career, American Pie.

After a nine-year hiatus, the whole gang is back to celebrate their high school reunion and Hurwitz and Schlossberg are behind the wheel dictating the action. Similarly to what they just did with A Very Harold & Kumar 3D ChristmasAmerican Reunion finds its roots in the idea of seeing where these high school stereotypes wind up when they’re in their 30s.

While celebrating the release of Harold & Kumar round three, Hurwitz and Schlossberg took the time to talk a bit about American Reunion, how they got the gig, how they worked on that and Harold & Kumar simultaneously and more. Check it all out for yourself below.

To Post or Not To Post: Reports From ‘Hunger Games’ Extras

Unofficial set photos are nothing new to the movie news industry. Professional and amateur photographers hang around the set, hoping to get a quick glance at a star they admire or perhaps just a look at the costume design for a particular film. No big deal, right? Personally, I never thought so, until recently.

There’s a pretty glaring divide between the images that make their way onto websites every once in a while and the material that’s pouring out of the set of The Dark Knight Rises. The film is still about a year away yet I feel as though I’ve seen the large majority of it. Even if Christopher Nolan does have something up his sleeve, as Anne Hathaway recently suggested, does that make it okay to spoil everything else?

Luckily material hasn’t been oozing from The Hunger Games set at the same pace, but we’ve got the fan sites and Lionsgate to thank for that. Just recently, several outlets received an e-mail from an individual who claimed to have accessed the set illegally and was eager to spill the details. On a less threatening, but still debatable note, legitimate set extras are sharing their stories, too.

‘Scream 4′ Casting 101: Deciphering the Details

What seemed like a swift, cut and dry process has become a sloppy heap of dropouts, replacements and script changes. As an avid franchise fan, there’s little that can dash my high hopes for Scream 4, but it’s hard to look at the recent developments and not be a little concerned. The latest development is the most troublesome of all: Kevin Williamson‘s departure. As we reported earlier, word on the net is that Williamson is out and the script now belongs to Ehren Kruger, the guy who gave us the series’ weakest installment, Scream 3.

I can go on and on about my disapproval of Kruger’s involvement, but if the news is true, that’s how it is and we’ll all just have to keep our fingers crossed. In the meantime, let’s breakdown all of this casting news to get a better picture of exactly what the story entails. I’m going to run down the roster according to this casting call posted back in April.

Emma Roberts Will Scream For Wes Craven

More Scream 4 casting news has arrived and this time, it’s the real deal. Just last weekwe told you about Lake Bell’s early negotiations and Wed Craven’s effort to reel in Ashley Greene, Hayden Panettiere and Rory Culkin. Well, it looks like one of the four isn’t going to be on the set when filming begins on June 28th in Ann Arbor, Michigan because, according to EW, Emma Roberts has officially claimed the role thought to be for Greene.

Roberts will play Jill, Sidney Prescott’s cousin and the new Scream heroine. Roberts told EW, “I’m so excited to be part of this ground-breaking franchise.” She added, “It’s the perfect opportunity for me to do something completely different than I’ve ever done before.” What? Hotel for Dogs isn’t your thing anymore?

New Faces Take Over ‘Scream’ Franchise; Will The Alum Be Cleared Out In The Opening Scene?

With the “Scream 4” production’s July start date fast approaching, Wes Craven is getting down to business and trying to nab some hot young stars so the “Scream” alum can hand off the franchise to a new generation. As we reported earlier, Lake Bell is currently in negotiations to join the cast and Ashley Greene, Hayden Panettiere and Rory Culkin have all been offered key parts.

With Neve Campbell, David Arquette and Courteney Cox set to reprise their roles from the original three films, these new characters clearly must have a connection to one, if not all, of our old friends from Woodsboro. If the deals go through, the most direct of the bunch will be Greene’s character, Jill. Not only is she Sidney Prescott’s cousin, but she’ll also be assuming the role of the film’s leading lady. Panettiere’s role is Jill’s best friend, a major movie geek, and Culkin would play Jill’s love interest. The closest to sealing the deal is Bell, who will play a police officer Sidney knows from her high school days.
